Fixed Indexed Annuity

FIA

A Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) is an insurance contract that credits interest based on the performance of a market index, with a guaranteed floor protecting principal from market losses.

In Plain English

Your money grows when the index goes up, and simply doesn't lose ground when the index goes down — you earn zero instead of losing money in a bad year.
