Self-Funded Health Plan

Self-Insured Group Benefits

A self-funded health plan is a structure where the employer pays employee medical claims directly out of company funds, using a third-party administrator for processing and stop-loss insurance to cap exposure.

In Plain English

Instead of paying a fixed premium to an insurance company, the employer pays actual claims directly and keeps 100% of whatever isn't spent.
